Annabel Geujon is a vibrant, soon to be 17 year old international student from Lille France. She describes herself as creative, adventurous, intelligent and a real people person. Annabel enjoys travelling, meeting new people and creating videos about life. So far her travels have taken her throughout Europe and parts of South East Asia. She hopes to do more travelling later in her life.

Wanting to improve her English and wanting to be immersed in a new culture were her two main reasons for coming to Canada to study. " I looked at several other countries like England, Norway, Denmark and the U. S. before choosing Canada because of its scenic beauty and peaceful nature."

Annabel describes Powell River as being a beautiful place with all its mountains and water views. She especially enjoys the amazing sunsets. "I am impressed with how welcoming the people in Powell River are and by the number of hiking trails in the community." Her favourite trail is at Mowatt Bay because of how beautiful it is at the top of the trail.

Annabel likes attending Brooks School as it is very different from the school that she was attending in France. "In France we go to school for a longer day and we take 10 courses all year long".

"In Canada teachers listen more to the students and we are able to connect with them on a much higher level."

In terms 3 and 4, Annabel has signed up for Digital Film School with Mr. Tony Papa. She is very excited to learn new things and approaches to making movies. Her future plans include studying film making at a Canadian university, and after she graduates she dreams of living in Hawaii or California.

Her advice to future international students coming to Powell River is, "Don't be afraid to meet new people and try different things."

Annabel is excited to graduate from Brooks Secondary School and begin the next phase of her life. She maintains that if she had been born 500 years earlier, she would have loved to have been an explorer looking for new cultures.
